Fall. Autumn. You choose. Either way, here it is, and here's what's going on with the boys in brown (excluding UPS). We are about 91% done with our album, though the last 9% is the most time consuming. Regardless, we're looking to finish it by year's end and have it out around the holidays. We'll keep you posted. Until then, we've got an LA show coming up on November 4th. Oh, and on the subject of shows, thanks to everyone who made it out to our recent San Diego Sports Club appearence -- and to that one crazed fan who left me a birthday present on the stage, you're the tops, kid. Anyhow, it was a very good time for us, and that's due in large part to those of you who came and stood right up front while we rocked like a quiet storm. Did I just say quiet storm? No, Alex, don't put that on the web! No one will respect us anymore. This is not part of the web update. Stop coding. Stop. Coding. No, stop it really. Maybe you'll only stop if I stop. Did that work? I have a feeling it didn't. That's it buddy, if I check the site and find all of this post script on there, you and your new goat(ee) are done in this town. I have that kind of power. I am very awesome.

What a weekend! We probably spent about twenty-five of its fourty-eight hours playing, recording, or in transit between the two. Thank you sincerely to those of you who made the trek to Oceanside to endure our four-hour freakshow. Things got a little weird when my amp broke and i started doing a Brandon Boyd impression. (An influence? Who knew?) I think I need to cultivate some moves. But Eric covered us by playing two guitars at once and telling stories of things better left unsaid - some idle chatter, if you will. (Will you? Yes, you might.) But really, it was a crazy, fun night. On a side note (or actually the former was the side note making the following... Middle C?), we are underway recording a studio album. No, we are not signed. But we do want to be, so we're doing definitive versions of some old songs as well as some new ones to try and promote ourselves. The first four are now on myspace, including a new tune, Spoons.Hearts.Stars, so check 'em out! Big praises to Kyle at Ampersand - the man is a wizard! Needless to say we'll be doing the other ten songs for the album with him, and it'll be released probably in October. So, keep your ears to the grindstone, and we'll keep our grind to the earstones. Huh?

As many of you know, The Modlins have completed our first Rock and Roll Marathon, and, while we hardly won the race, we did not get the dreaded "DNF" next to our names, which we regard as an accomplishment. Thanks to everyone who rolled out of bed early/stayed up all night (ahem -- Matt) to make it to the event. It was maybe the most surreal show we've yet played, which is a statement of some weight given various previous experiences. Our congratulations go out to all of the runners, especially our good friend Rose C. Your accomplishment of running such a distance made our three set feat look like a joke. Let's see -- what else? Oh yes, we are very happy with our new practice space, Adder in Clairemont. Though we have to pay for a room, we can now practice as late/often as we want. We got out last night at 11:00 PM! So, it should bode well for fine-tuning our craft. Otherwise, got a couple of shows coming up this week and still hammering out kinks in new songs. Come out to our shows if you want to hear us try out any of them...

Bees?!! Police??!! What the hell is goin' on at The RacketRack? Well, not band practice. Not anymore (says the dragon). We have some lovely new neighbor with a penchant for dialing the 5-0 when he or she hears a little bit of Rock and Roll emanating from our couch-cushion-plugged windows. But luckily, as the officer who verbosely informed us of the possible consequences if we continue to play said, there are many places, "down by the docks" where a band can rent a practice space. Since we have that kind of money. And then to top that off -- BEES!!! We spotted what appeared to be leopard print underoos in the tree outside Mr. Killian's window and we thought, "Somebody's got an admirer." And as it turns out someone does -- the tree. And the admirer? Hundreds and hundreds of disgusting bees, crawling all over each other, constructing a hive for their precious queen, awaiting the chance to kill three out of four Modlins. So yeah. And the landlords have been helpful. Seriously, when can we quit this ish and move into Studio Two at Abbey Road? Anyway, hiatus: over. New show with Swim Party: posted. Please come and contribute to our humane-bee-removal/"down by the docks"-practice-space rental fund.

Happy twenty-oh-six to all of you! And let's hope that the year continues in as fine a fashion as it has begun, at least for us, with two new shows posted in the tour section, both occurring at envied and elusive venues. The first is in two days at the Ken Club with our friends Straight No Chaser (thanks for the invite, guys) and the second is... I can't believe I'm even typing this... at Cane's Bar Grille on the first of next month? We don't have too many details for it, but yeah, apparently we're playing Cane's. Keep checking the tour section for futher information, which will be posted as it comes in. We'll have to sell tickets for that one, though, of that I'm sure. The sooner show, on the other hand, is free. So take your pick, and we'll see you soon. Oh yeah, and thanks to everyone who made it out to the Christmas show. It was a nice holiday send-off, though we did forgot the eggnog.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our listening party for The Michael EP -- it was fantastic to have so many people there to welcome our new recording into the world, the world being, of course, our living room. Anyway, the new songs are also posted in the discography section where you can download them and listen to them until you are absolutely sick of them, but we'll also have cds at our shows for those of you who want a hardcopy. Otherwise, you can email us or post a comment on our myspace page and ask us to send you one. Also, we've got a new show posted in the tour section, some new pictures in the media section, and some extra tidbits in biography, thus rendering the latter a purposeful section for the first time in the site's history. So check it out! Until next time, we'll be working on our live act and, as always, gathering new songs. We ... can't ... stop.

Ah, the wonder of technology. When it works, it's great. But when it doesn't... Well, you were there. So, what this all comes to is an apology to those of you at our last show for the horrendous noise emanating from Eric's amp during the first two songs. Though, I must say, it was quite amusing to witness the man singing his half of the solo for "Woolknit." I didn't even notice that's what he was doing until the third or fourth line -- I thought, "Oh, his amp is working." Nice job, Mr. Killian. A nice job indeed. And thank you to Secret Apollo, not only for inviting us to play, but for providing a much-needed amp loan. Your hospitality will not be forgotten. And, neither will your performance -- it was quite rockin. My only question -- Who picked the piccolo? But, onward. We have a couple Modlins events this weekend of which you, the loving fans, should be aware. The first is the release and listening party for our new EP, which is being held at Matt and Eric's house at 9:00 Friday night. Free copies to all those who attend. If you could RSVP, that would be most helpful. 619-294-6878. And, the next evening, Saturday, we are playing a free all ages show at USD. The info for it is up in the tour section, so give it a look. Well, I suppose that's all the news for the moment. We'll see you in a couple of days.

The new EP is done and will be released on the 21st!! We'll send an email about the event, so keep an eye out -- we hope you're looking forward to it as much as we are. And, on an unrelated note, let me say WOW. You guys were the ones who really put on a show the other night. Thanks for all of the enthusiastic (Under Control!!!) participation -- it made us feel like we're doing something right. Actually, it looks like we'll be welcome back at Buster's pretty much any time, and we have you to thank for it, so we owe you one. And a second WOW is warranted for Spanish Archer's performance. You boys were especially sharp the other night. Welcome, Kevin -- you'll do just fine. For those of you who missed them, we have a link to their site in our friends section, so do yourself a favor and check them out. Otherwise, we've got two shows coming up in the next two weeks, so check the tour section for info on them. Okay, that's it. For now.

Some time has passed, and we are a bit older and not much wiser. Still, we are around seventy percent done with the new EP, so it should be ready for a late October release, as planned. How 'bout that? Even before that landmark date, though, we are going to have another few shows, all of which are posted in the tour section. The second is with our wonderful friends, Spanish Archer, and it will be the debut of their new bassist. So you should come out in myriad numbers and try to make him nervous. And the third show is at The Honey Bee Hive, which is quite the venue, where we will be following our new comrades, Secret Apollo, so you should come check them out too if you haven't already. All the shows are free, too. Exciting news all around, hey? Well, friends, the black hole of the mixing board is pulling me back toward it, so I should relent, allowing nature to work its course. But, rest assured, shortly we will reemerge from this dark, dense world and with a new recording to boot (or be booted). See you soon.

Well kiddiewinkies, we have just recommenced recording our next EP, and the hope is that we will have it done sometime in October -- keep your fingers crossed. Please don't feel neglected if you don't see us for the next few months, outside of our upcoming shows, of course, four of which have now been posted in the tour section, since we have quite a bit of work cut out for us. Let's just hope that the saying, "All's well that ends well," proves itself true once again...
6.17.05
Yeah. I know it's a bit late, and those of you whom this regards have probably started using our (nonexistent) glossy five by seven photos as a new face for your dartboard, but thank you to everyone who came out to our Whistle Stop show. It was nice to play at a place that we frequent during off-hours, under our assumed identites as mild-mannered, under-paid, working stiffs. Though keeping Lois Lane from asking questions was a bit tricky. What? Yes. So we have a show coming up this Thursday the 23rd at Scolari's Office, as detailed in our mass email. Spanish Archer. Partick Hruby. No cover... And there is a new posting in the tour section for another upcoming show in July. Also, I'm going to say it. We are planning on finishing this website by the end of June. Why do you care? I don't know. I just thought that if I made a "public" announcement of this sort, it might give us a deadline and some follow-through. If not, then this statement was never made. What statement?
Exactly. Hope to see you all at Scolari's. Peace.

Greetings to you. Just wanted to report a couple of tidbits. The first regards the use of one of our songs, "You Were the One That I Always Wanted," in an independent feature-length film, Dreammaker. We were happy to be invited to a screening of the film and were very pleased with the way our song was matched to the designated scene. Big thanks to Christina, the director, as well as Katie for initiating the collaboration. It made us feel like a real band for a minute there. Also, speaking of real bands, we've got two shows coming up, one of them with both our good friends, Spanish Archer, and our resident cover-designer, Patrick Hruby, in his live debut. They are now posted in the toursection. ("Of course the tour section - where else?" he asks. "Maybe in that biography section they haven't done anything with yet," she replies.) Those of you on our mailing lists will receive a reminder for the events, and to anyone who didn't sign up for this service but regrets it bitterly, just drop us a line and you will be added promptly. Promptly, but delicately. Otherwise, our work continues. That is, for those of us not gallivanting around Japan. That's a pretty poor excuse for missing practice, Mr. Killian.
4.12.05
Hey, kids. This past month has been a flurry of band practices aimed at getting our live show up to snuff, and it's beginning to come together. So for our coming shows, which will soon be posted, you will no longer need to bring throwing tomatoes should you attend.
In other news, hats off to our good friend Peter DiCicco on the completion and recent screening of his short film, Curtain. The showing gathered cast, crew, family and friends and was on all levels an event of success. For more on his projects, or to badger him to make a Modlins music video, check him out on our friends page.
All for now. We'll get that email list up and running as soon as we have band events to report.

The Andrew EP is done, and the mp3's are up! Go have yourself a listen in the "Discography" section. Thanks to everyone who came to the listening party, it was fun times. As far as the website goes, we will be putting up the "Biography" section in the next week or so, and maybe have some more news then. Talk to you soon....
2.19.05
Welcome to the new site! Things are being updated daily...be patient because we have no idea what we're doing. In more band related news, we are in the process of recording, and should be done sometime in March. More on that soon.
